UPDATE:
Gaston County Police have charged 26-year-old Jeffery Eaker with the fatal shooting of his girlfriend, 24-year-old Lacey West.
The shooting happened just before 10pm Wednesday night at Eaker’s home on Black Road in Cherryville. Medic took West to Caromont Regional Medical Center but she was pronounced dead from her injuries.
Following an interview with the suspect and witnesses that were inside the house at the time of the shooting, police charged Jeffery Eaker with First Degree Murder.
CHERRYVILLE, NC — Gaston County Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened late Wednesday night in Cherryville.
Police say the woman was shot Wednesday night on Black Road and later died from her injuries.
Not much information has been released at this point, but investigators do have a suspect in custody. Police say the victim’s boyfriend is being interviewed but so far no arrest has been made.
The investigation is ongoing and we will continue to update as we get new information.
