WINSTON-SALEM, NC — A guilty plea Tuesday night from a Virginia State football player who assaulted Winston-Salem State’s star quarterback.  The CIAA canceled the championship game the two teams were supposed to play because of the attack.

Lamont Britt pleaded guilty to simple assault Tuesday.  A judge sentenced him to a 45-day suspended sentence and a year of probation.  Britt hit Rudy Johnson in the face and head back in November.  The attack happened in a bathroom during a CIAA awards luncheon at Winston-Salem State.
