Virginia State Football Player Pleads Guilty to Assault

Β WINSTON-SALEM, NC — A guilty plea Tuesday night from a Virginia State football player who assaulted Winston-Salem State’s star quarterback. Β The CIAA canceled the championship game the two teams were supposed to play because of the attack.

Lamont Britt pleaded guilty to simple assault Tuesday. Β A judge sentenced him to a 45-day suspended sentence and a year of probation. Β Britt hit Rudy Johnson in the face and head back in November. Β The attack happened in a bathroom during a CIAA awards luncheon at Winston-Salem State.
