LOWELL, N.C.– Gaston County Police rescued a dog stranded in the South Fork of the Catawba River Friday.
Animal Care and Enforcement Specialists Steven Rector and Joseph Toney found the dog stranded on debris in the river near Willow Drive.
Officials say Rector used his personal canoe to rescue the dog. They say the dog was scared and aggressive during the initial contact.
The dog was uninjured and is now in the Gaston County Animal Care and Enforcement Shelter. Anyone knowing the owner of the dog is encouraged to cal Gaston County Police Animal Care and Enforcement at (704) 866-3320.
