CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man has been charged with the death of his daughter’s boyfriend.

Officers responded to a domestic violence assault call on Tuesday. Officers spoke with a female who stated that her boyfriend, 37-year-old Patrick Creek, punched her shoulder during an argument. The female did not have any visible signs of injury and officers completed a police report and advised her how to proceed with criminal charges.
On Wednesday, officers returned to the residence and located an unconscious male inside the home. Creek was pronounced deceased on scene. His family has been notified of his death.
During the investigation, detectives determined that Creek was attempting to physically assault his girlfriend at the residence when the girlfriend’s father, 60-year-old Parker Bogan, intervened and put Creek in a chokehold. Creek died due to injuries sustained during the altercation.
Bogan was charged with Voluntary Manslaughter and transported to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
