SALISBURY, NC — A woman was killed on I-85 in Salisbury Thursday morning when her car stalled on the interstate near Julian Road. Troopers say her Buick stalled in a middle lane around 5:30 a.m. She got out of her car, and a tractor trailer rear-ended the Buick. She was thrown into an inner lane and was killed. The woman’s name has not yet been released. The car and the truck traveled another 400 feet and caught fire. The truck driver was not hurt. The NC Highway Patrol is still investigating to determine if charges should be file against the truck driver from Illinois.
I-85 North near Julian Road is expected to reopen around 11:30 a.m.
To get around the accident, drivers can take exit 70 and 71 to Jake Alexander Boulevard and continue on that back to I-85.
