Richmond County Doctor Arrested On Drug Charges

Rockingham, NC —  The Rockingham Police Department and State Bureau of Investigation arrested a Richmond County Medical Doctor on drug charges Thursday.

Wendell Dalton Wells was a medical doctor who practiced at First Choice Medical Chiropractic located in Rockingham, North Carolina.

Wells was charged with one count of sale/delivery of a schedule II controlled substance, one count of sale/delivery of a schedule IV controlled substance, two counts of prescribing a controlled substance without a legitimate medical purpose, one count of failure to keep medical records, and three individual counts of misdemeanor sexual battery from the improper touching of a patient. The arrest was a result of a three month joint investigation.

Wells surrendered his N.C. Medical License and his DEA Registration, which allowed him the authority to write prescriptions.

Wells was given a $25,000 secured bond and released from the Richmond County Jail.
