Statesville Police Arrest Convicted Felon And Seize Multiple Weapons During Traffic Stop

STATESVILLE, N.C. – A routine traffic stop led to the arrest of a 44-year-old convicted felon that was driving with a suspended license and multiple weapons, including an AR-15 style rifle, in the vehicle, according to the Statesville Police Department.

A Statesville officer conducted a traffic stop on Salisbury Road near Gay Street on the night of Thursday, November 2nd. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer allegedly noticed a weapon covered by a windshield sunshade on the passenger-side floor.

The suspect, Brandon Maurice Torrence, was asked to exit while officers searched the vehicle. Police supposedly found three handguns, an AR-15 style rifle and ammunition to the firearms in Torrence’s vehicle.

Police say Torrence admitted to having several firearms in the vehicle.

Torrence was arrested and charged with four counts of possession of a firearm by a felon and four counts of carrying a concealed weapon. He was held on a $25,000 secured bond.
