Local Woman Worried Her House “Could Collapse” After Sink Holes Open Up In Yard
STALLINGS, N.C. – Questions about what is going on underground at the Stone Creek townhomes neighborhood in Stallings. It started, one homeowner tells us, with a small hole opening up in her landscaping at the end of June. And now, it’s progressed to a much bigger problem. She says this week, crews dug into the ground around her townhome. She calls the hollow spaces easily seen under her grass, sidewalk and porch steps “scary.” And what scared her even more was when a sink hole opened up underneath her when she was doing yard cleanup. Anna Gaddy says, “I step on a soft spot and my entire leg goes through the ground, just as seamless as you can think. And I’m in total shock.” She continues, “It’s kinda scary because this a three story (townhome), it’s top heavy, and I’m scared every day. Like, I have nightmares every day since the fall, that at any time my house could collapse.”
We have contacted the company that built the homes and are waiting to hear back. We are launching an investigation into this issue to find out what is happening here and if the people who live there are safe.
