NoDA Staple Brooks’ Sandwich House Closing
CHARLOTTE – Brooks sandwich house is for sale. The owner David Brooks said earlier in the year that he was considering selling the family business.
In the past few years, this brick burger joint has seen a lot of sadness. First, with the murder of co-owner Scott Brooks in 2019 just outside the shop.
Then there was the robbery of the store’s ATM when it was ripped from the building by a U-Haul truck.
WCCB’s Emma Mondo tried to call the sandwich shop as well as the Nichols Company, whose commercial real estate qr code sign is outside the store. The QR code takes you to the Nichols Company site, where the nearly one acre property is listed for sale.
Brooks Sandwich House released this statement on Thursday:
“You heard it from the man himself! We aren’t sold!! But we are selling!! We will be sure to let everyone know when that happens! But as of now get Brooks while you can! Until we’re sold we’re not leaving!!!! It’s been such a great 50 years but times are changing. Once Brooks is sold we will be opening up food trucks! Will make sure you can still get your chili fix! It’ll be just like Brooks but on wheels! David just wants to retire and put some hours on a fishing pole! The Brooks business will continue! Just in a different form! We love you all so much! And appreciate every single one of you!!”
