Goldsboro, NC- A Goldsboro woman purchased a freezer from her neighbor before finding a dead body inside, according to police.
The woman, who would like to remain anonymous, told police she bought the freezer for $30 and the neighbor told her to wait to open the freezer because it was being used as a “time capsule” for a church Sunday school project. The neighbor claimed that the church was coming to pick up the items inside the freezer, however, the church members never came.
Police say three weeks later the woman opened the freezer and saw what she believes to be her neighbor’s dead mother. She called 911 and after an autopsy the Goldsboro Police Department confirmed that there were human remains inside.
The identity of the body will not be released until next of kin has been contacted. According to the medical examiner, the death was natural and there were no signs of foul play.
The name of the original freezer owner has yet to be released, but neighbors say that the neighbor has since moved to West Virginia.
