Wells Fargo Is Not Renewing Sponsorship With Charlotte PGA Tour Event

CHARLOTTE N.C. – Wells Fargo announced it will drop its longtime sponsorship for the Charlotte PGA Tour event held at Quail Hollow Club, the large countinghouse confirmed on Friday, December 8th.

The sponsorship will expire following the 2024 event set to begin on May 9th. The end of the partnership comes after 20+ years of history with the Championship.

We are incredibly proud of the 20+ year history of the Championship. The tournament has generated significant local impact and delighted golf fans in Charlotte and across the country. Since 2003, the Wells Fargo Championship has generated more than $30 million in support of numerous charitable foundations.”

What’s next for the eminent event for the Charlotte region remains unclear. Despite the decision made for the sponsorship renewal, the powerhouse bank confirmed its commitment to the Charlotte Region. Wells Fargo said in its statement, highlighting its 27,000 employees, who make up the largest employee base for the company.

The company announced upwards of $500 million in investments over the next five years to upgrade workspaces and enhance the employee experience in Charlotte.
