9th District Congressional Candidate Calling For Recount

CHARLOTTE, NC– Tonight Ninth District Congressional Candidate Mark Harris says he wants a recount.

Harris lost Tuesday’s Republican Primary to Incumbent Representative Robert Pittenger by just 142 votes. The Mecklenburg County Board of Elections Director says the results could still change. That’s because there may still be absentee ballots that have not been counted.

“Any absentee ballot that was mailed on election day – postmarked on election day – and received by Friday by 5 will be counted.” said Mecklenburg Co. Board of Elections Director Michael Dickerson.

A recount means elections officials will have to go back through absentee, curbside, election day, early votes and provisional ballots in all eight counties included in the 9th district.
