Highs Get Over Hump
Despite the incoming front, rain chances remain at rock bottom throughout the workweek.
Happy Hump Day! Near-to-above-average highs in the 40s and 50s will greet us today with mostly sunny skies. Don’t expect our newfound warmth to last, though. An incoming dry cold front will slam the door on any hopes for a sustained warm-up. What this system lacks in moisture, it will more than make up for in terms of cold air. Lows will bottom out in the 20s and 30s in each of the next three mornings ahead; wind chills may approach the single digits in the High Country Friday morning. Highs will return to below-normal values in the 30s, 40s, and lower 50s through Friday.
Warmer air steadily builds back in by the weekend, despite increasing cloud coverage. Highs will approach 60Β° on Saturday before rain chances rise into Sunday. Our next significant rainmaking system will develop in the northern Gulf before sweeping northeastward by the back half of the weekend. There is still significant disagreement on the storm’s track, which will play a major role in rain chances and totals on Sunday. Any rain we do end up seeing will clear out by next Monday afternoon. Next week is trending drier with near-average temperatures.
