EXCLUSIVE: Greyhound Passengers Stranded After Driver Leaves Broken-Down Bus Unattended
CHARLOTTE -Dozens of passengers on this Greyhound Flix bus have questions after they say their driver abandoned them on the transport for nearly two hours.
The WCCB newsroom received a call around 1:30pm Thursday from Kevin Epps, a passenger on the bus. He was heading from Durham to Atlanta when the bus kept breaking down. They eventually stopped on freedom drive.
“They didn’t really say nothin, they were doing some mechanical work back there and then they left,” says Epps.
The driver was no where to be found.
“We had to keep calling Greyhound, keep calling to rectify the problem and they didn’t go anything,” Epps says. They also called the police, but no one came. When WCCB Charlotte’s Emma Mondo arrived on the scene, another bus driver had arrived to transfer the passengers from one bus to the other.
The drivers did not speak English, making it difficult to communicate with passengers about the situation.
We reached out to Greyhound for a statement but haven’t heard back. While a new bus arrived, passengers were still angry.
“It’s very frustrating that this happened and we weren’t notified or anything about anything like if we were getting another bus,” says Epps. “We had to take the initiative on our own to call greyhound and complain and they just left us here without telling us anything.”
