SPARTANBURG, S.C. β One person has died and another was sent to the hospital in a fatal car crash late Friday night on Interstate 26 in Spartanburg County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred at approximately 8:45 p.m. on Friday, December 22nd. The collision occurred on I-26 at mile marker 16 near John Dobbs Road, approximately four miles west of Spartanburg.
Police say the accident started with both drivers traveling east on I-26 when a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro and a 2004 Toyota Highlander collided.
The Chevrolet driver died at the scene. The Toyota driver was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Spartanburg Regional Hospital.
Both drivers were the sole occupants in their respective vehicles. At this time, it is unclear on the severity of the injuries the person hospitalized sustained.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the collision. No further details have been released at this time.
