Man Hospitalized After Swat Standoff

CHARLOTTE, NC– A man is in the hospital after he was shot by a police officer following a tense standoff in Southeast Charlotte.

Around 8 this morning, officers tried to arrest a man they say committed several robberies in the past week. The man barricaded himself inside an apartment in the Glen Cove Complex on Pine Burr Road. The swat team responded and placed the complex on lock-down.

“At one point he did come out of the residence with the weapon in a threatening manner.. One of our swat officers perceived an imminent lethal threat.” said Chief Kerr Putney.

That officer is now on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.
