Hornets Kaminsky to have minor procedure, out for Summer League

CHARLOTTE, NC (WCCB Charlotte) — Frank Kaminsky is out for the summer.

The Hornets 2015 first round pick will undergo a minor procedure to repair a small pocket of air in his chest wall on Wednesday. The recovery time is approximately six weeks.

Assistant coach Patrick Ewing doesn’t think this will have an impact on the growth of the Hornets forward.

“I thought he was doing an outstanding job this summer of working on his game,” Ewing said. ” I don’t think it will hurt him that much.

Kaminsky averaged 7.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 21.1 minutes per game during his rookie campaign, appearing in 81 games (three starts). He became the sixth rookie in Charlotte NBA history to play at least 81 games in a single season. Kaminsky was one of only two rookies to total more than 600 points, 300 rebounds and 50 three-point field goals during the 2015-16 campaign.
