WINNSBORO, S.C. – A three-vehicle car crash in Fairfield County near Winnsoboro killed one and sent another to a hospital on Saturday morning, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred at approximately 5:58 a.m. on Saturday, January 6th on SC 34, just five miles west of Winnsboro.
Police say a 2007 Honda Accord was traveling west on SC 34. Meanwhile, a 2023 Chevrolet heavy duty pickup truck and a 2011 Ford Expedition were traveling east on SC 34.
Near Ramsey Road, the Honda driver sideswiped the Chevrolet truck before losing control and striking the Ford vehicle. This caused the Ford to travel off the roadway and strike a guardrail.
The Honda driver was the sole occupant and died as a result of their injuries.
There were four total occupants in the Chevrolet truck and none were injured.
The Ford Expedition driver was transported to a local hospital. There were two additional passengers in this vehicle and neither were injured.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the collision. No further details have been released at this time.
