YORK COUNTY, S.C. — A woman convicted of accessory charges in the death of a former South Carolina mayor has died in prison.
Julia Phillips, 72-years-old, died in prison on Wednesday, according to police. She was convicted in 2013 for her part in the death of former York, South Carolina Mayor Melvin Roberts.
Police say they are still trying to find the person or people who assisted Phillips in the death of Roberts.
Today, the York Police Department will host a press conference to give details about the death of Phillips.
