Stop the Violence and Black Lives Matter Rally Held in York, SC
YORK, SC – There was an increased police presence in York, SC Sunday night as hundreds gathered for a Stop the Violence and Black Lives Matter rally.
The event began with a moment of silence including prayers for the officers who were killed in Baton Rouge.
Then hundreds marched into downtown York.
Police blocked off intersections to keep traffic away from the crowds.
Organizers say they want to see people of all backgrounds come together, along with more opportunities for young people.
“I’m just tired of violence. So it’s time to stop the violence. It’s time to come together. It’s time to unify,” said organizer Quisha Bankhead.
