National Night Out Aims To Unite Police, Communities

CHARLOTTE, NC– Bringing police and the communities they serve closer together.

This year’s National Night Out has extra meaning across the country. In light of several deadly officer-involved shootings.. And the killing of police officers in recent weeks.

CMPD will have hundreds of officers out to at least 70 communities in Mecklenburg County that will be hosting an event this year, standing with law enforcement, and against crime.

“It sends a straight message to criminals that these communities in Mecklenburg County are fighting back,” said Officer John Frisk of the CMPD. “That they’re not, they’re going to take stand to crime. And to show that they’ve built relationships with law enforcement.”

This is the 33rd National Night Out. Community events will take place on Tuesday, August 2nd.
