Highway 51 At Fullwood Lane Reopened After Accident Downs Power Pole

Officials say Highway 51 has completely reopened following an early morning closure due to a downed power pole.

Police are still directing traffic at the intersection of Fullwood Lane because the traffic lights are still out.

MATTHEWS, NC — Highway 51 at Fullwood Lane is closed in both directions this morning after an accident took down a power pole at the intersection.

Crews are on scene working to repair the downed pole. Lines and traffic lights are hanging too low for traffic to get under.

Officials say they hope to have the area back open by 7am.

Drivers can use Sardis Road and South Trade Street as an alternate route.
