CHARLOTTE, NC — Police have identified the man that was killed in an accident at Howell Motor Freight Sunday evening in north Charlotte.
Police say 46-year-old Dexter Marion was killed just before 7pm Sunday on Metromont Industrial Boulevard after the “yard hopper” he was operating rolled back onto him when he got out.
The “yard hopper” is a tractor trailer cab used solely for moving trailers around a business’s property and is not registered with the DMV. Officials say Marion was moving trailers from the loading dock to the yard when the accident occurred.
Another worker called 911, but Marion was pronounced dead when officials arrived on the scene.
CMPD’s Major Crash Unit along with the N.C. Department of Labor and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating the accident.
