The silence is broken! For the first time since her name surface in ex-Mayor Patrick Cannon’s corruption case, Amani Abdul is sharing her side of the story. The former campaign aide makes two points in a statement she released to WCCB: she is innocent and never had a romantic relationship with Patrick Cannon.
In the FBI’s criminal complaint against Cannon, we see that an undercover agent believed Cannon was attempting to persuade the agent to hire his aide. And aide is also said to have texted an undercover agent on behalf of Cannon to request a key to the South Park apartment. The receipt also brings up an email Abdul reportedly sent to the Mayor’s scheduler. However, the feds haven’t said what that email actually said.
