MONROE, NC — Troopers say a man was hit and killed by a box truck in Union County Monday morning.
The accident happened just after 9:30am on Rogers Road near High Shoals Road. Troopers say 24-year-old Devin Toney of Monroe was walking on the shoulder of Rogers Road when he somehow ended up in the roadway. A box truck traveling southbound then hit Toney.
He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Investigators say no charges will be filed against the driver.
