Pilot Seriously Injured In Single-Engine Plane Crash Near Mooresville

MOORESVILLE, N.C. – A 62-year-old pilot operating a single-engine plane suffered serious injuries after striking several trees and crashing in a Lake Norman neighborhood.

The crash occurred around 12:20 p.m. on Sunday, January 14th.

Peter Granow, of Tega Cay, South Carolina, was identified as the pilot. He was transported to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte to be treated with serious injuries.

Authorities say Granow attempted to land a 2000 single-engine Cessna at the Lake Norman Airport. On his way, he struck several trees before crashing into the front yard of a residence at 157 Normandy Road.

This crash is under investigation by the FAA.
