Surveillance Pictures Released In Deadly Officer-Involved Shooting at Lenoir Walmart
LENOIR, NC — Police are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that happened Tuesday morning at a Walmart in Lenoir.
Officers were called to Walmart on Highway 321 after a vehicle break-in was reported in the parking lot. The suspects, Carl Nivins, Natasha Stanley and Jose Flores, were inside the store when officers arrived on the scene.
Police say Nivins ran from officers and reportedly pulled a gun and fired at least one shot at officers as he was running out of the store. An officer returned fire and stuck Nivins. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
No one else was injured in the shooting. Officers involved in the incident were wearing body cameras and video and audio from those cameras along with surveillance video from Walmart will be used as evidence in the case, according to police.
Stanley and Flores have been arrested on outstanding warrants from Burke County on unrelated charges. All the officers involved in the incident have been placed on administrative leave.
