Mother’s Boyfriend Charged in Murder of Three-Year-Old Jordyn Dumont Indicted
UPDATE: William ‘Billy’ McCullen has been indicted on a first degree murder charge in the death of three-year-old Jordyn Dumont.
GASTON COUNTY, NC – The search for a missing toddler ends with a grisly discovery, the girl’s body found in the woods near her home. The man charged with looking after the little girl is the same man charged with her murder.
Two hours after search crews found the remains of three-year-old Jordyn Dumont, police charged her mother’s boyfriend Billy McCullen with first degree murder.
As the massive search played out Monday, McCullen was there, talking with rescue crews and consoling the girl’s mother Jaylene Dumont.
But police didn’t buy his story that the girl wandered out after he fell asleep that afternoon.
“We believe that Jordan was deceased prior to her being placed where she was found, and that her death occured in the past 24 to 36 hours,” explained Gaston County Police Chief Joseph Ramey.
The chief wouldn’t describe the girl’s injuries or explain a possible motive.
“I couldn’t believe it,” says neighbor Michael Crumbley, “You know, you’re talking about a child man, you know..innocent.”
The family’s next door neighbors tell us they saw warning signs.
“They beat both of those kids. I seen Jordyn with a black eye,” said Nicole Crumbley.
WCCB Charlotte asked the Chief about prior calls of service at the family address.
He told us there have been 49 calls over the past three years – ranging from noise complaints to domestic violence.
Nicole took us into the woods behind her home and showed us the spot she says police found the little girl’s body.
It’s only a few hundred yards from the family home.
