Elderly Woman Dies After Colliding with Freightliner in South Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police have released the name of the woman that was killed after an accident in south Charlotte on Tuesday.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department says 80-year-old Jacqueline Lookabill was turning left from Quail Hollow Road onto Gleneagles Road when her 2002 Ford Explorer hit the front end of a Freightliner truck.

Lookabill was transported to Carolinas Medical Center but later died from her injuries.

Police say speed and alcohol are not factors in the crash. The driver of the Freightliner and a passenger in his truck suffered minor injuries and are expected to be okay.
