CMPD Makes Arrest After Eight-Month Long Homicide Investigation
Update
After an 8-month long investigation, CMPD identified 33-year-old Quanticus Rucker as a suspect in the murder of 26-year-old Diana Perez-Barrera, according to a news release.
The release states that Rucker was arrested on January 20 on unrelated charges and was identified as the suspect in the murder case on August 22.
After obtaining arrest warrants, Rucker was transferred from NC Department of Adult Corrections to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office on August 29.
Rucker is being charged with:
- First-degree murder
- Armed robbery
- First-degree kidnapping
- First-degree burglary
- Possession of a firearm by convicted felon
According to an affidavit, Rucker is linked to murders in Texas, Kannapolis and Charlotte.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – CMPD is investigating a homicide at a home in East Charlotte.
Investigators say it happened around 6 am Friday morning on Turquoise Drive.
Officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon with injury call on the 7900 block of Turquoise Drive.
Upon arrival, officers located a female victim with an apparent gunshot wound. This victim was pronounced deceased on scene.
