Outbound Independence Blvd. 1 Lane Reopened After Water Main Break
UPDATE 6:45 pm Monday – Charlotte Water says one lane of outbound Independence has reopened. Two other lanes will remain closed overnight while water main break repaired. Drivers are encouraged to take Monroe Road or other alternates through 6 am Tuesday.
UPDATE: NCDOT officials now estimate outbound Independence will be closed until 6 a.m. Tuesday due to a water main break. Traffic is being diverted at Wallace Road onto Monroe Road.
UPDATE: Officials say outbound Independence Boulevard will be completely shut down until at least 7pm due to water main break.

CHARLOTTE, NC — An overnight water main break has outbound Independence Boulevard closed down this morning in east Charlotte.
Crews say the break happened between Conference Drive and E. WT Harris Boulevard overnight Monday. Traffic is being diverted onto Wallace Road to Monroe Road.

Officials are saying it will likely be this evening before the area is reopened.
