York County Hires Andrew Merriman As Assistant County Manager
YORK, S.C. — York County has hired Andrew Merriman to serve as Assistant County Manager.
Merriman will support County Manager Bill Shannahan and work with Assistant County Manager David Harmon overseeing Public Safety Communications, Emergency Management, Fire Safety, Ebenezer Park and Summer Feeding.
Shannahan released the following statement regarding Merriman:
“After an exceedingly competitive recruitment process, I‘m very confident that Andrew is the right person for the job. His proven leadership skills and extensive knowledge of county operations will be a great asset to the Manager’s Office and York County.”
An undergraduate of Tusculum College, Merriman comes to York County following four years as the Assistant County Administrator for Aiken County, South Carolina, and three years as the City Manager of Bluefield, West Virginia. He also served as the Assistant Town Manger and Planning Director for York County from 2006-2009. He received his Masters in City and Regional Planning from Clemson University.
