DA To Seek Death Penalty On Suspects Charged After 2 Bodies Found In Burnt Car

UPDATE: Officials say the cases against two suspects charged in the deaths of Spencer Murray and Albert Austin will proceed as capital matters.

The District Attorney has announced that they will seek the death penalty against Icey Gooden and Brian Robinson in the double homicide case where two men were found in the trunk of a burned car in September.

Authorities say the case remains under investigation by the Burke County Sheriff’s Office and NC SBI.

BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities are seeking assistance in locating two men after human remains were located inside a burnt vehicle in Burke County.

Investigators say they received a call Sunday morning in reference to a burnt vehicle on Canoe Creek Way in Morganton.  Deputies discovered human remains inside the vehicle.

Investigators determined the Cadillac Deville belonged to Albert Austin but was registered to Spencer ‘Jermain’ Murray.

Authorities are attempted to locate anyone who might have information on the whereabouts of Murray or Austin.  Anyone with information is asked to call Burke County Crimestoppers at 828-437-3333.
