Discussion:
High pressure will slide off the coast today. A strong low pressure system over the midwest will lead to an increase in winds acrossΒ the area today as high pressure slides off the coast. It will remain sunny and dry with temps reaching the mid to upper 60s this afternoon for the Piedmont and mid 50s for the mountains. Temps will remain mild Friday, but clouds fill in as a cold front approachesΒ the area. This boundary will slow over the Carolinas bringing a wintry mix with little to no accumulation to the mountains overnight Friday into early Saturday. Isolated showers possible for the rest of the region with any wet weather tapering off early Saturday. Much cooler temps arrive for the weekend. Highs will struggle to break out of the low to mid 50s Saturday and Sunday with overnight lows falling into the 20s and 30s Sunday and Monday mornings. Temps will rebound back into the 60s early next week.
