Discussion:
A cold front will bring some big changes to the weather pattern this weekend. As the front approaches, clouds will fill in today. Highs will still be above average reaching the low to mid 60s for the Piedmont and upper 40s to lower 50s for the mountains.
Overnight as the front crosses the area, a wintry mix will be likely for the mountains. Light accumulations are possible making travel slick in the higher elevations. For the rest of the region, moisture will be limited, but an isolated shower will remain possible through midday. Cooler and breezy Saturday afternoon with highs struggling to break out of the low 50s for the Piedmont and lower 30s for the Mountains. Overnight lows will fall below freezing area wide. Much drier air moves in to end the weekend. Low relative humidity levels could cause issues with an increased fire danger.
The increased fire danger will persist through mid-week. Moisture begins to return to the region by Wednesday with rain chances returning next weekend. Temps will warm back above average into the low to mid 60s.
