Local Artists Battle It Out In A Speed Paint Showdown At Charlotte Based Brewery

Charlotte, N.C. (News Release) — In a celebration of creativity and community, the Speed Paint Showdown is set to take place at Lenny Boy Brewing Co. on Sunday, February 25, from 2-6 pm.

Organized by ArtintheQC, an artist advocacy organization, in collaboration with non-profit Talking Walls Charlotte, this live speed painting spectacle promises an unforgettable fusion of art, music, and fun.

What is speed painting? Simply put, it’s painting with a time limit. In this case, eight talented local artists will have just 30 minutes to start and finish a painting on a 16” x 20” canvas. The top four artists, based on audience votes, will move onto a final round with fresh canvases.

All the artists get paid, with $1000 of cash and prizes up for grabs.

“As an arts advocate, I’m really excited about putting dollars directly into the pockets of local artists. This is hopefully the first of more regular income opportunities for creatives that ArtintheQC will be creating,” says organizer Alexandra Smith.

And it’s not just about the competition. All 12 artworks will be available for silent auction bidding, starting at $75, offering attendees the chance to take home a piece of the live art experience.

Plus, “I believe in creating entire experiences, so we’ll be jamming out to DJ BLACKASTHECOSMOS, getting free portraits from photographer Dionna Bright, free caricatures from Lo’Vonia Parks, and shopping with some great local vendors,” mentions Smith.

Tickets are $15 on Eventbrite. Use code ART for $4 off your ticket. Admission is free for Kids 12 & Under and Parking is free as well.

The Speed Paint Showdown is made possible thanks to the generous sponsorship of Lenny Boy Brewing Co., a HUG micro-grant from CLTisCreative, and funding from ArtintheQC.
