Man Fires Multiple Rounds At Union County Deputies

UNION COUNTY, N.C. – A man was taken into custody after he allegedly fired multiple rounds at deputies on Wednesday.

The man, identified as 27-year-old Calvin Glaser, was charged with four counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and one charge of shooting into an occupied dwelling.

Deputies responded to reports of a disturbance between family members at Mallard Circle near Indian Trail.

The first deputy on scene reported a male suspect outside of the home allegedly ran to a near by wood line, concealed himself and began firing shots at the deputy.

As additional UCSO personnel arrived, the suspect continued to fire shots at deputies, striking on their patrol vehicles and a brick wall that was being utilized by law enforcement as a protective cover, according to a news release.

After firing approximately 8-10 shots, the suspect exited the wood line without a weapon in his hands and was taken into custody, deputies say.

No deputies or any residents were injured during this deadly assault, and the investigation into this matter is ongoing.

This does appear to be an isolated incident and there are no other known threats to the residents in this area.

Anyone with information pertaining to this case is asked to call 911 or the UCSO’s Main Office at (704)283-3789.
