CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Motorists were advised to seek alternate routes after a serious wreck causes major backups for hours on I-85 northbound near Statesville Road on Wednesday afternoon.
The highway reopened around 7:36 p.m. MEDIC said four people have been transported from the scene. Two with minor injuries, one with serious injuries and another with life-threatening injuries.
The CMPD said I-85 north was completely shut down due to a crash at Exit 38. Traffic was being diverted to I-77.
The Charlotte Fire Department said there are significant delays in the area.
Another wreck was being reported on I-77 at the I-85 interchange. This was a separate accident from the one listed above.
