CHARLESTON, S.C. – One person was killed in an officer-involved shooting in Charleston County on Wednesday, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
Authorities said that North Charleston Police officers were involved in a vehicle chase after a traffic stop. Police said gunfire was exchanged between an armed male suspect and law enforcement.
During the incident, the suspect was struck by a NCPD police vehicle. The suspect was transported to the hospital where he later died.
No officers were injured in the shooting.
This marks the seventh officer-involved shooting in South Carolina this year.
This shooting is still under investigation.
