CHARLOTTE, NC — Protests continue in the Queen City for a sixth day after the deadly shooting of Keith Lamont Scott by a CMPD officer on Tuesday. Violence in Uptown made the headlines on Wednesday followed by the National Guard being called in to assist security on Thursday after a State of Emergency was declared. A curfew also took effect Thursday night from midnight to 6am and is still in effect Saturday night. There were many calls from protesters, city leaders and other prominent figures for the CMPD to release the body and dash cam footage recorded during the shooting death of Keith Lamont Scott. Saturday, Chief Putney announced the footage would be released. WCCB has been covering the events from the beginning and will continue to bring you the latest as it develops. Update 7:32pm: The City of Charlotte lifts the curfew, effective immediately.
Mayor Jennifer Roberts and Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners Trevor M. Fuller announce the City of Charlotte has lifted the curfew, effective immediately.
Mayor Roberts continues to urge the community to come together and show their unity in a peaceful and legal manner.
Update 1pm: 30-year-old Bruce Garmon was charged with carrying a concealed weapon near the Bank of America Stadium Sunday afternoon.
