Discussion:

Temps are warm this morning in theΒ upper 50s to lower 60s, making it feel like spring. Highs will climb into the low 70s ahead of a strong cold front this afternoon. Winds will pick up 20-25 mph out of the SW with stronger gusts. A wind advisory is in effect for the mountains until 7pm. Gusts 50-60 mph will be possible. A few stronger storms possible within the line as it moves across the Piedmont with heavy downpours and the potential for damaging winds. Once the front passes through showers may linger for a few hours, but temps will drop tonight with lows falling into the 20s and 30s across the area. Thursday will remain cool and dry with highs about 10 degrees below average. A wedge sets up Friday leading to the potential of a wintry mix for the high country with cloudy skies and drizzle across the rest of the area. Highs will remain cool Friday. Temps should be able to regulate somewhat this weekend, but expecting clouds and scattered showers to remain in the forecast through early next week.
