Suspicious Package Removed From CMPD Headquarters Uptown
UPDATE: The suspicious package has been removed from CMPD headquarters by a robot. It will be rendered safe at a remote location. CMPD says an alert employee discovered the package and a bomb sniffing dog alerted on it. CMPD has not released exactly what was inside the package at this time.

CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD has evacuated their Uptown headquarters after a suspicious package was found in the mail room Tuesday afternoon.

Officials say the bomb squad is on scene preparing to remove the package.

Police have closed down South Davidson Street, both northbound and southbound between E. Trade Street and E. 5th Street. Cars and pedestrians are being rerouted around the area.
