Discussion:
A wedge is building into the region this morning. This will keep the clouds locked in with much cooler temps in theΒ forecast today. Highs will struggle to break out of the 30s in the mountains and the 40s across the Piedmont. A disturbance will move out of the Gulf and up the southeast coast today. This will bring a wintry mix of freezing rain and sleet to the mountains. A winter weather advisoryΒ is in effect until 7pm. Up to .1″ of ice accumulation possible. Wintry mix will change over to a cold rain this afternoon. For the rest of the region cold showers will become more steady by late morning and continue through the night. .5-1″ of rainfall possible. Cloudy with drizzle possible Saturday morning. Clouds will begin to clear later in the day with highs reaching the mid 60s. Near 70 by Sunday afternoon with a pleasant forecast on tap with partly to mostly sunny skies. A series of upper level disturbances will bring back isolated to scattered storm chances early next week.
