Remains Of Erica Parsons Found In Chesterfield County

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, SC — Officials have confirmed that the body of Erica Parsons has been found in Chesterfield County.

Rowan County detectives, the SBI, and FBI told the Chesterfield County Sheriff earlier this week that remains were believed to be located in a remote wooded area off of Highway 9 between Pageland and Mount Croghan. An investigation at the site, which is 75 miles from where the Parsons lived, revealed skeletal remains belonging to a young girl, according to reports.

Officials say the remains were taken to the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office and were identified as the remains of Erica Parsons.

The family has been notified of the findings, but no further information is being given out at this time regarding the investigation.

Officials with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office say they will hold a news conference sometime next week.

Erica Parson was first reported missing on July 30, 2013 by her adoptive brother Jamie Parsons. He told investigators that he had not seen Erica since November 2011 when she was 13-years-old. Erica’s adoptive parents told investigators that she had gone to stay with relatives in Asheville and they had not seen her since.

Officials determined this was not the case.

Sandy and Casey Parsons were both sentenced to federal prison on multiple fraud charges related to Erica’s disappearance back in October 2014.

We are continuing to gather more information on this case and will update as it comes in.
