Soggy Start to Weekend

Cooler air crashes into the Carolinas behind Saturday's system, but temperatures quickly recover next week.

Clouds are dominating our skies as we close out March’s first workweek. Expect scattered showers to build in overnight as a moisture-laden system approaches from the southwest. The rain will become widespread as we wake up Saturday morning; lows will only fall into the 40s and 50s. The showers and storms will be heavy at times, but severe weather is not in the forecast. Most spots across the WCCB Charlotte viewing area will see about an inch of rain through noon on Saturday before the rain moves out to the north and east.

Cooler air crashes into the Carolinas behind Saturday’s system. Highs will struggle to clear the 40s and 50s Sunday afternoon, despite abundant sunshine. Strong gusts from the northwest may approach 30 mph by the end of the weekend. Temperatures will quickly recover next week as winds shift back from a more southerly direction. Afternoon highs will likely surge into the mid 70s as we head into the heart of March. Rain chances appear minimal over the next five days beyond Saturday.
