LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. – Three inmates in Lancaster County are facing fentanyl-related charges after possessing and distributing the narcotic that led to another inmate’s death.
The incident happened sometime between March 2nd and 3rd.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division charged the three inmates – Destiny Sierra Hinson, Wynter Rose Hilburn and Stephanie Renee Clark – on Thursday, March 7th.
Hinson allegedly illegally smuggled fentanyl into the Lancaster County Detention Center. Authorities said she distributed it to multiple inmates, including her co-conspirators, Hilbrun and Clark.
One of the inmates used the narcotic, which led to an irreversible medical emergency. The inmate was pronounced brain dead on March 5th.
Hinson, 23, was charged with distribution of fentanyl. Hilburn, 27, and Clark, 32, were each charged with possession of contraband – fentanyl.
The three were identified as the suspects from video surveillance and witness statements.
