Discussion:
Spring officially begins at 11:04pm today, but it will not be feeling very spring-like. A freeze warning is in effect until 10am for the Piedmont. It will be windy, dry and cool this afternoon with highs reaching the mid to upper 50s. An increased fire danger threat due to very low relative humidity, breezy conditions and dry vegetation. Burning is highly discouraged. Temps will warm into the low 70s tomorrow as high pressure scoots east, allowing winds to transition out of the southwest. A cold front crosses the region Wednesday night. This will lead to a slight drop in temps Thursday with highs back near average in the mid 60s. A wedge sets up Friday leading to cool and cloudy conditions. A disturbance will bring widespread rain to the area through Saturday morning before we get a chance to dry out by the second half of the weekend.
