Deputies: Teenager Arrested For Shooting And Killing 18-Year-Old In Lancaster County

Update

17-year-old Ny’Jeri Patterson has been arrested and charged with murder, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime due to his connection to the shooting death of 18-year-old Stephen Carter, according to a news release.

The release states that Patterson was arrested Sunday night without incident and is being charged as an adult.

LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. – A shooting death of an 18-year-old is being investigated by the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, according to a news release.

The release states that deputies responded to a shooting death on March 22, 2024 and found an 18-year-old victim across the road from his house. The victim was given treatment from the Lancaster County Emergency Medical Services, but died from a gunshot wound, as said by the Sheriff’s Office.

According to deputies, this does not appear to be a random incident and residents of the area are not believed to be in danger. No arrest has been made.

“This is a very active investigation, and we are pursuing promising leads,” said Sheriff Barry Faile. “I encourage anyone with any information about this shooting to contact us immediately. We will release more information when appropriate as the investigation progresses. Our thoughts and prayers are with this young man’s family, and I hope we will have answers for them about who did this and why very soon.”
