CHARLOTTE, NC — Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle they believe was a factor in a single car accident that killed a woman Thursday evening.
The accident happened on Hickory Grove Road at Market Street shortly after 8pm Thursday. Officials say Jean Lennon, 68, was killed in the crash when her vehicle slammed head-on into a tree.
Police believe the driver of a brown van merged from the left lane into the path of Lennon’s vehicle. Officials say Lennon swerved to avoid hitting the van, hit the curb and then ran off the road and hit a tree. The brown van was last seen traveling on Hickory Grove Road toward Pence Road. Police do not believe Lennon actually struck the brown van.
Anyone with information on this crash or the whereabouts of the brown van are asked to 911 immediately.
