One Charged In Fatal Crash Involving Moped Driver In Cherokee County

GAFFNEY, S.C. – One person is dead and another is facing a charge following a collision between a vehicle and a moped in Cherokee County on Friday afternoon.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to a motor vehicle crash around 5:16 p.m at Pleasant School Road and Wilcox Avenue. This is approximately three miles north of Gaffney, South Carolina.

Upon arrival, officers located a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 2020 moped.

Authorities said the driver of the Jeep Cherokee failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign. His vehicle was then struck by the moped.

The driver of the moped died as a result of the crash. 

The Jeep driver was not injured but was charged with failure to yield the right of way.
